A reading programme
for legal knowledge
and the work around it

Statutus runs structured bootcamps for professionals who work alongside legal teams — in governance, operations, procurement, and policy roles. Each term follows a curated reading list, faculty-led discussion sessions, written exercises, and a closing reflection memo. Topics are framed as education, not legal counsel.

What the Programme Offers

Structured reading over accumulated weeks

Each term is built around a reading list, a discussion sequence, and a series of written exercises. The pace is deliberate. The aim is careful comprehension through engagement with the material.

Reading lists compiled for context

Each term opens with a pre-reading list sent to participants before the first session. Texts are drawn from legal scholarship, governance commentary, and practice writing relevant to the topic.

Faculty-led discussion sequence

Sessions follow a prepared discussion sequence rather than an open forum. Faculty bring professional backgrounds in the topic area and structure questions around the reading list.

Written exercises and peer response

Written exercises are set at each stage of the term. Participants read and respond to one another's drafts before the closing session — peer review is part of the curriculum, not an addition to it.

Closing reflection memo

Every full term closes with a structured reflection memo — a short piece each participant completes independently, documenting what they read, what they questioned, and what they carry forward.

Kept to manageable cohort sizes

Cohort sizes are maintained at a level that supports meaningful discussion. Every participant reads the same texts and works through the same sequence — the shared cohort is the working context.

Education, not legal advice

All programme content is framed as continuing education. Nothing delivered in the bootcamps constitutes legal advice or professional counsel. Participants are encouraged to consult qualified legal professionals for matters requiring it.

Frequently Asked

Questions about the programme

What topics do the bootcamps cover? +
Each term covers one defined topic at the intersection of legal knowledge and adjacent professional practice. Current and recent topics include governance literacy for in-house operations, contract-architecture comprehension for non-lawyers, and knowledge management for legal departments. Topics are published in advance of enrolment.
Who attends the bootcamps? +
Participants generally work in or adjacent to legal environments — in-house operations, compliance, governance, procurement, and policy roles. Some attend as individuals; others are sent by their organisations as professional development. No prior legal training is assumed or required.
How long does a full term run? +
Full bootcamp terms typically run over six to eight weeks, with one or two structured sessions per week. The exact schedule varies by term and topic. The Single Topic Workshop runs across two consecutive days. Confirmed schedules are issued after enrolment.
Is this legal advice or a qualification? +
No. The bootcamp is a continuing-education reading and discussion programme. Nothing delivered in the programme — including written materials, faculty commentary, or exercises — constitutes legal advice. Participants should consult qualified legal professionals for matters that require legal counsel.
What are the fees and how are they paid? +
The Full Bootcamp Term is HKD 6,900 per participant. The Single Topic Workshop is HKD 2,200 per participant. The Annual Reader Subscription is HKD 790 per year. Payment details and invoicing are confirmed at enrolment. Corporate billing is available for organisations enrolling multiple participants.
How are reading materials provided? +
Pre-reading materials are dispatched to enrolled participants before the first session. For full terms and workshops, a reading list and selected texts are provided. Reader Subscribers receive access to the reading library and the quarterly editorial bulletin through an online portal.
Can organisations send multiple participants? +
Yes. Organisations regularly send teams to full terms and workshops for professional development. Corporate enquiries are welcome — write to us with the number of participants, the topic of interest, and any scheduling preferences, and we will discuss availability.
